Railroad to Close in Del Mar on Certain Days for an Extended Time

Starting Sunday, May 19, 2024, changes to the Pacific Surfliner service will affect Downtown San Diego’s Santa Fe and Old Town San Diego stations. Due to ongoing construction work on the Del Mar Phase Five project, to stabilize the railroad right-of-way along the scenic bluffs, the following service disruptions will occur:
- No service to Downtown San Diego’s Santa Fe and Old Town San Diego stations on Sunday evenings, Monday mornings and evenings, and Tuesday mornings.
- This service adjustment is expected to last for approximately two years.

The schedule will be altered on the dates below:

- Sunday, August 11 – Monday, August 12 (morning only)
- Sunday, August 18 – Monday, August 19 (morning only)
- Sunday, August 25 – Tuesday, August 27
- Sunday, September 8 – Tuesday, September 10
- Sunday, September 15 – Monday, September 16 (morning only)
- Sunday, September 22 – Tuesday, September 24
- Monday, September 30 (evening only) – Tuesday, October 1
- Sunday, October 27 – Tuesday, October 29
- Sunday, November 3 – Tuesday, November 5
- Note: Additional dates will be added as the schedule is finalized.

During this period, the following modifications will be made to the schedule:
Sunday and Monday Nights (on dates listed above):

- Train 790, which normally operates between Goleta (GTA) and Downtown San Diego (SAN), will terminate at Solana Beach (SOL).
- Bus 4090 will provide a bus connection between Solana Beach and Downtown San Diego Santa Fe Depot, departing Solana Beach at 10:25 PM. Passengers can request a stop at Old Town San Diego (OLT).
- Train 794, which normally operates between San Luis Obispo (SLO) and downtown San Diego (SAN), will terminate at Solana Beach (SOL).
- Bus 4094 will provide a connection between Solana Beach and Downtown San Diego Santa Fe Depot, departing Solana Beach at 12:25 AM. Passengers can request a stop at Old Town San Diego (OLT).
- Train 790, which normally operates between Goleta (GTA) and Downtown San Diego (SAN), will terminate at Solana Beach (SOL).
Monday and Tuesday Mornings (on dates listed above):

- Train 761, which normally operates between Downtown San Diego (SAN) and San Luis Obispo (SLO), will originate at Solana Beach (SOL).
- Bus 4061 will provide a connection from Downtown San Diego Santa Fe Depot to Solana Beach only, departing from Downtown San Diego at 3:50 AM, 11 minutes earlier than the usual train departure time. Note: There will be no connections from Old Town San Diego.
- Train 765, which normally operates between Downtown San Diego (SAN) and Goleta (GTA), will originate at Solana Beach (SOL).
- Bus 4065 will provide a bus connection from Downtown San Diego Santa Fe Depot to Solana Beach only, departing from Downtown San Diego at 5:50 AM, 11 minutes earlier than the usual train departure time. Note: There will be no connections available from Old Town San Diego.
- Train 761, which normally operates between Downtown San Diego (SAN) and San Luis Obispo (SLO), will originate at Solana Beach (SOL).
